Are We having Halloween in 2021?
This was the question that my kids made me decide to celebrate Halloween at home this year.
Depending on your location, maybe, your kids won’t be able to show off their carefully thought-out costumes to the fullest extent, but don’t worry because there’s still plenty to do with just your immediate family or trusted members of the pod. From visiting pumpkin patches, to apple picking and of course, going to haunted houses, there’s room for celebration as restrictions have been lifted for now. But you can be part of the party and set-up your yard with themed décor.
The essentials of a Halloween-themed party at home
These are the essentials too set-up any Halloween-themed party:
-
Adding nice garden décor to create the ambiance
-
Having costumes for myself and my kiddos
-
Cooking outside while kids are playing
-
Organizing yard games for my kids, their friends and their parents
-
Having chocolates and candies - and treat bags
For the families who want to take extra precaution and spend the day at home, there’s plenty to do too—including getting all gussied up for the spooky occasion and firing a nice bonfire to avoid the spirits. You can get crafty by creating your own costumes or making a ghost garland or just adding decor to your entrance and the backyard as well.
If you want a more active night, try a game of Halloween charades, mummy racing or playing in a Halloween-themed obstacle course of your own making. Check out this article about Halloween activities for kids.

But We were talking about Halloween 2021. This feels an eternity since last Halloween that me and my kids went Trick or Treating. Social distancing had created a social barrier but this year this can be done differently.
But first, let me throw some facts about the history about Halloween (these are great conversation openers when gathering with friends or to tell your kids as well)
Why we celebrate Halloween
The tradition originated with the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, when people would light bonfires and wear costumes to ward off ghosts. In the eighth century, Pope Gregory III designated November 1 as a time to honor all saints.
Where is Halloween celebrated
Halloween's origins date back to the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain (pronounced sow-in). The Celts, who lived 2,000 years ago, mostly in the area that is now Ireland, the United Kingdom and northern France, celebrated their new year on November 1.
Nowadays Halloween is celebrated in a number of countries around the globe. In countries such as Ireland, Canada and the United States, traditions include costume parties, trick-or-treating, pranks and games. Versions of the holiday are celebrated elsewhere, too. In Mexico and other Latin American countries, Día de los Muertos—the Day of the Dead—honors deceased loved ones and ancestors. In England, Guy Fawkes Day, which falls on November 5, is commemorated with bonfires and fireworks.

Spikeball
Spikeball is a blast anywhere, specially when playing kids with parents, where sand makes for a softer landing when your competitive side comes out. The two-on-two sport is easy to learn and play anywhere. The foldable legs make it easy to tote to the shore and store away when done.

Halloween most delicious candies
The history says that Halloween has Celtic roots.
One way Celtics may have appeased the spirits they believed still walked the Earth was by leaving treats on their doorsteps.
Fun fact: Did you know? One quarter of all the candy sold annually in the U.S. is purchased for Halloween.
In our days, this translates as collecting lots of chocolate candies.
These are my selection...and personally I adore eating small chocolate treats the days after Halloween while drinking my morning coffee
and there are no treats without nice treat bags
